LAKE TRAVIS, Texas (KXAN) —  A body has been found in Lake Travis near Emerald Point.

The man is estimated to be in his 20s and could be the body of the swimmer who went missing on Friday while boating with friends, according to Austin/Travis County EMS.

Around 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12 the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said a group of friends were on a boat when one of them in the water started struggling to swim. Olman Ramirez, who friends say was the designated driver, jumped in to help.

Investigators say the wind may have picked up and caused the boat to drift away from Ramirez. The struggling swimmer was rescued by people on a second boat that stopped to help, but friends say Ramirez never resurfaced.

Rain over the weekend made it difficult for divers to search for Ramirez. Despite the weather, friends of Ramirez rented a boat and jet skis to help in the search.

On Monday, a team used a vessel called Towfish Sonar to look for Ramirez. The equipment is similar to an underwater drone and was used to locate any target areas that needed to be searched by divers.
