SAN MARCOS (KXAN) — Texas State heads into their final two home games with a one-game lead in the Sun Belt conference standings.
Currently, the Bobcats are the favorite to win the conference tournament and reach the NCAA Tournament. Of course, Texas State knows that’s easier said than done in a one-bid league that relies on the conference tournament.
“I think they know what’s at stake,” Texas State head coach Danny Kaspar said.
The Bobcats have won four in a row and will play Thursday against Louisiana Monroe before Louisiana Lafayette Saturday in San Marcos.
Most national bracketology experts predict Texas State will be a 14-seed in the tournament.
“It’s everything you dream of when you’re little. You love getting a chance to win a ring, go to the NCAA Championship,” Alex Peacock said.
“You can get knocked off your high horse. The NCAA tournament is not promised for you. Right now, I’m not going to lie, seeing our name on the bracket, it’s a good feeling,” Tre Nottingham said.
