Blue lights sold to raise money for Sgt. Hutchinson’s family

ROUND ROCK (KXAN) — “Back the Blue,” a motto the Round Rock community is standing firm with after Travis County Sheriff Office’s Sgt. Craig Hutchinson was gunned down in their neighborhood.

Five hundred blue light bulbs were donated from Home Depot and other area businesses.

Now the community is selling those for at least a $6 donation.

Whatever amount is raised, organizers plan on giving the cash to the Hutchinson family.

This community says they pride themselves on always coming together during the tough times.

Their goal is not only to raise money, but to have blue lights at every home in this neighborhood to show their support.

“We’ve always been a close-knit community so when this happened we just wanted to pull together and show the support for the family and then show the rest of the city — the rest of the state that we are a great neighborhood and support each other,” Cheryl Hartgrove, the organizer said.
