AUSTIN (KXAN) — If you’re out late tonight or out and about early Saturday morning, make sure you’re aware of closures on East Cesar Chavez between Red River Street and Trinity Street.
The closures will get underway starting at 12 a.m. on Saturday and continue until noon on Saturday. Construction crews will be installing new sidewalks along with new awnings on the south side of the Austin Convention Center. Drivers who want to avoid the construction, should consider using Red River Street or Brazos Street.
Local business owner, Ron King, had to give clients a heads up about the work this Saturday, but most clients have been understanding.
“First of all, I have to say we’re excited about any of the new construction down here. I’ve been here five years and this is what we’ve been waiting on,” says King.
The Third Street Reconstruction project is also going on at the same time and will completely close West Third Street between San Antonio and Nueces all day Saturday.
