Austin hiring lifeguards from 2016 summer season

News

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Looking for a summer job? The Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s Aquatic & Nature Based Programs Division is holding a hiring day on Friday, Feb. 12 for those who are interested in a lifeguard, swim instructor or cashier position.

It is a time where candidates have the possibility of being offered a job, in the event they pass a background check and complete proper training.

The city says it employs more than 650 lifeguards every year throughout its 51 aquatic facilities. In years past, the City of Austin has had to delay opening certain pools due to the lack of lifeguards. Other pools had limited hours due to the shortage. Austin Parks and Recreation are creating these hiring events in hopes to avoid previous year’s issues.

The job fair will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Aquatic Administration and Training Facility.
