Austin High student killed in Saturday morning rollover

AUSTIN (KXAN) – An Austin High School senior was killed in a rollover crash along MoPac early Saturday morning. according to an email sent out by the school’s principal Saturday evening. The teen was identified as Ezra Polter.

Police say Polter was driving north of MoPac near 35th Street around 4:30 a.m. when his SUV rolled over. Polter died at the scene after he was thrown from the vehicle, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. No one else was hurt in the crash.

“Ezra will be missed, and our prayers and heart-felt condolences go out to his family and loved ones,” AHS principal Sandy Compian wrote in an email to parents Saturday. “He was a warm, friendly, kind and beautiful person and special to all of us. He will always be loved and remembered.”

Austin High School will have extra counselors on-hand next week to help students coping with their classmate’s loss. Students are also encouraged to wear maroon Monday in honor of Polter.
