AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Gay Softball World Series is in Austin for the first time, but has been greeted by heavy rainfall impacting the games.
The games have been washed out for the past three days. Organizers have had to cancel some of the scheduled games due to the weather and continued flash flood threat.
On Wednesday, they are hoping to begin with double elimination games at noon. The Masters Division is expected to begin Thursday if weather permits.
The World Series is organized by the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Association. They will host 200 teams with 5,000 people.
There is an after party for the games Wednesday night at Ironwood Hall from 7 to 10 p.m.
This year is the 40th anniversary of the games. The World Series will be held at the Krieg Softball Complex at 515 S Pleasant Valley Rd.
