Austin Energy warns about scam letter targeting commercial customers


AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Energy sent out a warning Tuesday about a scam focused mostly toward commercial customers.

Austin Energy says 33 customers reported receiving a letter about an overdue balance amounting nearly $1,000.

The letter includes a “City of Austin” seal at the top and threatens customers to pay the balance or risk getting their service cut off.
