ANALYSIS: Exploring solutions in the mass shooting debate

AUSTIN (KXAN) — What is the history of mass violence in Texas, and what can everyday citizens do to prevent another deadly shooting in the state?

Investigators Josh Hinkle and David Barer went through how the idea of the project began, how they gathered information and interviews across the state and what they discovered.

Barer and Hinkle discussed several citizen-led solutions to combating mass violence and preventing mass shootings including active shooter training and the DPS’ system for reporting suspicious behavior.

On Thursday evening, KXAN investigators and other experts on mass violence discussed solutions offered by state leaders and answered viewer questions about the project, “A History of Mass Violence.”

Investigator Arezow Doost talked to Fred Burton, the chief security officer of Stratfor. They answered questions about the project, security measures and other solutions not explored in the docuseries.
