2 additional community meetings to be held to discuss possible AISD school closures

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Thursday night’s community meetings was supposed to be Austin Independent School District’s last to discuss possible school closures.

But there two more meetings after a rough first few meetings. The district says discussions have been better since a facilitator was brought in.

Some parents, however, say they are still unhappy with the proposals.

Additional meetings will be held Oct. 22 and 23. The Oct. 22 meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. and is for refugee families affected by school changes. Multiple language interpretation will be provided. For more information, email alison.ghilarducci@austinisd.org.

The Oct. 23 meeting is not hosted by AISD, but will be a district-wide meeting hosted at Greater Calvary Bible Church, located at 6510 Berkman Drive from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This meeting will mostly be focused on issues facing the African-American community.
