AUSTIN (KXAN) — During the last weekend of SXSW, Austin police said they arrested more than a dozen people for driving while intoxicated. This was the first year APD implemented a No Refusal initiative during SXSW. The initiative ran from Thursday, March 19 through Sunday, March 22.

Out of the 61 DWI arrests in Austin, 19 people gave breath samples, 42 were given blood draws (35 of which were based on search warrants).

Approximately 47 percent of all breath samples collected were .15 BAC or higher, with the highest at .263. Ten of the breath samples fell between .08-.15 BAC.

Saturday night saw the most arrests with 19.

To put it into perspective, during Halloween 2014 No Refusal weekend, 44 people were arrested for DWI over the course of two nights.
