24 refugees sworn in as U.S. citizens on World Refugee Day

AUSTIN  (KXAN) — Twenty-four refugees were sworn in as U.S Saturday as part of World Refugee Day at the Bullock Texas State History museum.

The refugees being sworn in came from a total of ten different countries:

  • Bhutan
  • Bosnia-Herzgovina
  • Burma
  • Burundi
  • Cuba
  • Iran
  • Somalia
  • Syria
  • Vietnam

The reason many of the refugees give for coming to the U.S-Greater freedoms and rights.

Observance of World Refugee Day was established in 2001. Since 1975, more than three million refugees have resettled in the U.S.
