AUSTIN (KXAN) — Skeletal remains that were found in southeast Travis County over the weekend has been identified as a man who was reported missing in mid-July.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office says on Oct. 25, detectives received a tip indicating that 33-year-old Paul Michael Longoria, of Creedmoor, was murdered and his remains could be found in a wooded area off Maha Loop. Five days later, TEXSAR cadaver dogs discovered a rolled-up tarp, which contained human remains, underneath a bridge on Maha Loop.

Authorities arrested and charged 19-year-old Samuel Allen McMarion with murder and tampering with evidence on Tuesday.

Longoria’s official cause of death has not been determined due to the extensive decomposition of the body. The final report from the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to take several weeks or months.
