AUSTIN (KXAN) — The 18th Annual Heart Ball of Austin was held on Saturday, bringing together leaders from across Austin to raise funds and celebrate the work of the American Heart Association.
Abby Moss, a freshman at The University of Texas spoke at the event on her and her family’s dealings with a genetic heart disorder. Now diagnosed, she and her mother will be able to live long healthy lives. The diagnosis and treatment were made possible by the educational and surgical advances that have come from American Heart Association-funded research.
The gala included a dinner, silent and live auctions, and live entertainment. The funds generated at the ball support the association with its research and educational programs to improve the lives of women, children, and families in the community.
KXAN’s own Shannon Wolfson attended, emceeing the ball.
