The meth was discovered during a traffic stop Tuesday around 11:19 a.m. A truck was pulled over on Interstate 10 at the 666-mile marker. Police noted the driver seemed nervous and gave them “suspicious” registration information.

While searching the truck, officers found four identical fire extinguishers. One of the sergeants said he had seen drugs hidden in fire extinguishers before and decided to cut them open. An estimated 30 pounds of meth with a street value of $1.3 million was discovered inside.

The truck driver Alberto Jonas Gamez, 37, was arrested and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
