Rosie Newberry

Rosie is KXAN First Warning Weather’s weekend evening meteorologist and environmental reporter. Rosie joined the team in January, 2015 and came to Austin from KOMU-TV 8 in Columbia, Missouri.

Rosie was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri, a town known for its quick weather changes and its full four-season experience. Rosie attended Mizzou where she earned a graduate degree in Atmospheric Science, and received her degree in May, 2014. Her thesis work was in spring-to-summer energy shifts, with an emphasis on El Niño Southern Oscillation and Pacific Decadal Oscillation pattern interactions. She’s been honored with Missouri Broadcasters Association’s Best Weathercast twice, in 2014 and 2015.

Most recently, Rosie and the KXAN First Warning Weather Team won a Lone Star Emmy for their collaborative Summer Weather Outlook.

Rosie loves talking about weather and fun science facts. She’s a huge word nerd and loves learning bits and pieces of new languages. In her spare time, Rosie is always shopping and hunting down the latest, greatest BBQ joint she can find.
