Sarah Al-Shaikh

Sarah Al-Shaikh is a native Texan excited to be back in the Lone Star State. Before joining KXAN, Sarah received her undergraduate degree in International Studies at St. Edward’s University. During her time there, she studied abroad in Morocco and learned Arabic.

After graduating from St. Ed’s, Sarah embarked on a new journey to Syracuse University to receive her Masters in Broadcast and Digital Journalism. While there, she received an Excellence in Broadcasting Award by the New York State Broadcasters Association for “Outstanding College Feature News Story.”

Soon after her time in Syracuse, she worked as a weekend anchor and reporter in Lansing, Michigan. Sarah covered a variety of topics like the race for Governor of Michigan, the Oxford High School shooting and Black Lives Matter protests.

While she loved the Lansing community, Sarah was ready to move back home to Texas to be closer to her family. She is incredibly honored and grateful to now tell the stories of Central Texans.
