Rosie hosts Studio 512, KXAN’s lifestyle show, alongside Stephanie Gilbert. Rosie originally came to Austin as a meteorologist for KXAN. She worked with Jim Spencer and David Yeomans on the First Warning Weather Team for 3.5 years before switching over to lifestyle programming. She’s originally from Springfield, Missouri, and she’s proud to have worked at KOMU-TV8 in Columbia, Missouri before coming to Texas. (She adheres to the “Mizzou method” — learn by doing!)
Rosie has a B.A. in Classical Studies (Latin) and an M.S. in Atmospheric Science, both from the University of Missouri. She’s honored with two individual Missouri Broadcaster’s Association awards for Best Weathercast (2014, 2015) and a Lone Star Emmy team win for KXAN’s Summer Weather Outlook (2015).
Rosie loves languages — she’s learning Spanish currently — and she loves kids (she’s got 6 wonderful nieces and nephews)! She’s passionate about education and inclusion, and she’s always taking coverage requests: feel free to email her, Rosie.Newberry@KXAN.com, if you’ve got a great story idea!
