Reporter / Morning Weekend Anchor
Jacqulyn Powell began her career as an intern at KXAN. She is excited to return to the station where she received her earliest experience in broadcast journalism.
Jacqulyn’s passion for broadcasting began at an early age. With parents in the radio business, she followed their lead and hosted her own radio talk show at age 12. While in high school, Jacqulyn won a Robert F. Kennedy Award for humanitarian journalism and was flown to a ceremony in Washington D.C. to meet the Kennedy family.
Jacqulyn attended Western Kentucky University where she studied Broadcast News and French. She also served as News Director at campus radio station WWHR and anchored television newscasts that aired on PBS. She traveled across the country and to Beijing, China gathering news stories for WKU’s award-winning School of Journalism & Broadcasting.
After graduating college, Jacqulyn moved to Boise, Idaho to serve as a reporter and anchor for KBOI and its CW station. Most recently she worked as a multimedia journalist for WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Jacqulyn enjoys traveling to new places and doing anything and everything outdoors. When she’s at home, she’s generally spending quality time with her three furry children, Lover, Linus and Eleanore, the friendliest cats you’ll ever meet.
Jacqulyn left KXAN in November 2021.
