My name is Gary Cooper and I am a reporter for KXAN-TV in Austin, Texas.
Before I came to Central Texas, I was a Photojournalist for WTVD-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. While there, the crew and I covered everything from freak snow storms, hurricanes making landfall, and anything else that North Carolina could through our way.
I’ve been in broadcasting for close to ten years now and it all started at KENS-TV in San Antonio. Back then, I was a production assistant and I was in charge of making sure the studio was always ready for the newscast. During my downtime, I would learn from the veteran reporters and photojournalists there. The rest, is history, as they say.
I have been lucky enough to win an Emmy for some of my work and if I am lucky enough, I’ll have some more.
When off the clock, NPR, newspapers, and/or a good movie is what I’m buried in. When not doing that, I’m outside hiking a trail somewhere.
Please feel free to contact me. Or better yet, let’s meet at local coffee shop.
