Seven-time Emmy Award-winning journalist Eric Henrikson always wanted to be a storyteller. A Texas native for more than twenty years, Eric fell in love with documentaries and telling creative stories about his community while attending Angelo State University.
Eric joined KXAN in 2016 as a member of the marketing department before reporting for KXAN.com starting in 2018. He’s known for his in-depth explainer videos covering science and the environment.
Eric is the co-creator of the Emmy Award-winning series “First Warning Weather University.” He has also lent his talent to multiple investigations including Locked in Limbo, Save Our Students, The Accused and Pandemic: Pass or Fail.
He directed and produced the Jim Spencer documentary: “The First Forecast” and the the documentary The Last F5, about 1997 Jarrell tornado outbreak.
Since joining KXAN, Eric has earned seven Lonestar Emmy Awards, two National Edward R. Murrow Awards as well as a nomination for a National Scripps Howard award.
Eric also produces KXAN Weather & Traffic, the station’s non-stop weather and traffic show on the CW Austin.
In his spare time, Eric loves going to the movies with his husband Steven, hiking Central Texas’ trails, playing the latest video games, learning to bake and playing with his three dogs. He has family across the state, including a nephew and niece in San Antonio and his parents in San Angelo.
