
Investigative Producer and Digital Reporter
Dalton Huey joined KXAN’s investigative team in July of 2021 as an investigative producer and digital reporter.
Dalton is a native Texan who moved to Austin in 2010. He proudly received his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and a master’s degree in forensic psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where he specialized in the psychology of law enforcement and terrorism.
Dalton began his investigative career working for a multi-disciplinary forensic investigations firm where he assisted in the crime scene reconstruction of the Fort Hood mass shooting. He then went on to work as a criminal defense investigator conducting death penalty mitigation investigations in capital cases.
In 2015, Dalton made the transition into the news when he became an investigative producer for KVUE News. The opportunity allowed him to apply his skills and experience towards investigative journalism, which ultimately led to him earning two Texas Associated Press Broadcaster awards as well as a Lone Star Emmy award for his work as an investigative producer.
Prior to joining KXAN’s investigative team and making his return to the newsroom, Dalton was the Director of Investigations for the Better Business Bureau.
