Driver faces DWI charge after going through barrier at Austin protest, nearly hitting reporter

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police say a driver faces a charge of driving while intoxicated after he drove the wrong way into oncoming traffic near a protest outside APD headquarters Tuesday night.

A KXAN crew covering the protest recorded the driver going through a barrier and nearly hitting a television reporter.

Police were able to arrest the driver shortly afterward. They say no one was hurt in the incident which occurred around 9:30 p.m.
