HOUSTON (KPRC) - The funeral for a 22-year-old woman killed in San Marcos was set for Saturday.
Hailey Nicholls was shot and killed at her apartment early Thursday. Her private funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon in Humble near Houston.
Nicholls died along with her boyfriend Jesse Robledo.
Investigators believe her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Stillwell, fired the deadly shots and then died after he drove his car off of a cliff in Comal County.
"I was shocked," said Milin Patel. "Very well behaved young man."
Patel can't understand how the boy who went to school and played soccer with his kids and was a regular in his northwest Houston store is the same person accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.
"I would not even think that Daniel would do that," he said. "He was such a strong, well behaved, very good kid."
Daniel Brewster Stillwell, 22, is accused of shooting Nichols, who was about to graduate from Texas State University with a degree in fashion management. Police say Stillwell also shot and killed 27-year-old Jesse Robledo.
"It's horrible," said his sister Andrea Uribe. "He was my only sibling."
Andrea Uribe says the only thing buffering the shock of her brother's murder is the outpouring of love from friends and family.
"He was a really good person," she said. "He had so many friends and family come to the house...like tons of friends, tons of family, so obviously he was loved by everybody."
Police in the college town of San Marcos say Stillwell became jealous that Nichols was dating Robledo so his grabbed his roommate's gun and killed the pair at this apartment complex.
Court document read that before his disappeared Stillwell told his roommate, "he did not want to live in a cage and was going to kill himself by driving off a cliff." Police say Stillwell made good on that threat by driving off a cliff in a rural area known as the Devil's backbone.
"God bless everybody and give them strength to go through the pain now," Patel said.
