AUSTIN (KXAN) - A young woman died early Wednesday morning when her car crashed into a pole at the intersection of Wells Branch Parkway and FM 1825.
Investigators say the 28-year-old woman was the only person in the car. She died at the scene from traumatic injuries after her car crossed the intersection and left the roadway before striking a large metal utility pole.
Police say she was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The eastbound lanes of Wells Branch Parkway were closed at the intersection while Austin police officers investigated the scene.
This was Austin’s 54th fatal traffic crash and the 55th traffic fatality of 2013. At this time in 2012, there were 51 traffic fatalities.
