TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - A construction worker fell to his death while framing a new home in Northwest Travis County on Friday.
The worker, who was not immediately identified, was working on top of the home inside the Villa Montana Community, said Roger Wade of the Travis County Sheriff's Office.
"According to detectives, witnesses say that the man just slipped," Wade said. "He was trying to reach for something and fell and eventually died here on the scene."
The call came in just after 11 a.m. Representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and from the county medical examiner's office were expected to investigate further, Wade said.
"Detectives will be talking to a bunch of witnesses out here," he said. "Doing a lot of measurements to try to determine exactly how far the individual fell and if that was a contributing factor into the death."
Wade says this is one of several homes being built on this hilltop community.
"Whether it's a fatality or serious injury we contact OSHA to do their investigation," Wade added. "It appears right now that it's going to be an accidental death."
The incident happened 13120 Luna Montana Way, near The Oasis.
