Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, October 08, 2013.
Wet weather will spread throughout the Pacific Northwest and into the Great Basin on Tuesday, while a ridge of high pressure will build over the central U.S.
A cold front will stretch from Nevada to western North Dakota on Tuesday, which will produce widespread rain over a handful of states, as well as snow in the northern Cascades and Rockies. In the Southwest, light to moderate showers will move into southern California as a low pressure system ushers moisture in from the Pacific. Rainy weather will occur along the coast, keeping most of the inland valleys and deserts dry.
The central U.S. will experience calm, dry conditions on Tuesday as a ridge of high pressure builds over the Midwest. The Lower Mississippi River valley can expect warm, humid weather due to an onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico, while cool, dry conditions will move through the upper Midwest. High pressure is also expected to build over the Great Lakes, which will bring calm weather to the Ohio Valley and most of the Northeast.
A cold frontal boundary will linger along the Eastern Seaboard on Tuesday, causing more rain and thunderstorms to occur in several states. The Southeast, including Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina, can expect thunderstorms throughout the day, while spotty showers will occur in northeast New England. By the end of Tuesday, wet weather will move completely out of the Northeast.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday have ranged from a morning low of 19 degrees at West Yellowstone, Mont. to a high of 96 degrees at Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C.
