AUSTIN (KXAN) - - The high school football season kicks off Thursday night, but Bowie, Hendrickson, Round Rock and Westwood all start their season Friday night.
Hendrickson will be led by senior running back Samaje Perine, who is committed to play at Oklahoma. Last year, the Hawks went 6-0 in district play before losing to Westlake in the first round of the playoffs.
Bowie high school will be transitioning to a new up-tempo offense this year behind an offensive line that returns every starter from last year's squad that lost in the second round of the playoffs after beating Round Rock high school in the first round.
The Dragons, meanwhile, will lean on both their offensive and defensive lines, featuring division one recruits on both sides of the ball.
Westwood high school will look to build on its deepest playoff run in school history last, where the Warriors made it to the third round before losing to the eventual state champions.
