SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) - High winds knocked out power to 1,800 San Marcos electric customers around 9:45 a.m. Monday.
San Marcos Electric Utility crews worked to restore power on the east side of San Marcos after winds as high as 38 mph blew down a tree onto a power line.
By 10:05 a.m., electricity was restored to more than 95 percent of the customers, and Assistant Director of Public Services Kyle Dicke said power was restored by late afternoon Monday to all affected customers.
A tree also fell near Comanche Hills Apartments on Comanche Street, knocking out electrical service and starting a small fire. Dicke said minimal damage was reported.
Gusty winds blew down a tree behind the Wastewater Lift Station near River Road at Interstate 35 that took out a feeder line to an electric substation.
Other minor outages were reported around San Marcos due to the storm in Spring Lake Hills, Haynes Street, Farris Street and Jones Street. About 1,800 customers in the Blanco Gardens neighborhood lost power briefly.
Power was restored in those neighborhoods in the morning.
