GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) - The government shutdown is affecting more than just government workers. In fact some small business owners in Georgetown are taking a direct hit.
Aviation sales are at a halt right now. Tuesday the aircraft registration office located in Oklahoma City shut down; paralyzing the sale of any planes. It’s affecting at least 15 aviation companies in Georgetown.
"Currently today our revenues have stopped completely and will be on hold until the government opens up again and the FAA office allows us to transfer titles,” said Robin Eissler, the owner of Jet Quest, Inc.
Mark Smith, who works for GANTT Aviation says he’s also feeling the pinch. "This is it. It’s my life, it’s my job. We only get paid if we buy and sell planes. Right now we can’t buy and sell planes. "
“We’re stuck and we cant sell them to anybody. We can do the sales process at this point but what we can’t do is receive any money into the corporation,” said Eissler.
Over the next several weeks 123 deliveries worth more than $1 billion are in jeopardy if republicans and democrats can’t come to an agreement.
