AUSTIN (KXAN) - Employee accused of threatening suspected thief
A store employee was arrested Friday after police say he chaseda customer with a baseball bat because he thought the man wastrying to steal a pair of pants. Police said Roberto Clemente, 50,also threatened to get a gun. The store is located at 4631 AirportBlvd. Police said the pants were later found in the dressingroom.
Woman hit by suspected drunk driver at The Domain
Police said a woman was hit by a drunk driver and left pinnedagainst a fence at The Domain shopping center at 3300 Rogers Roadon Thursday afternoon. Police arrested Bradley Massey, 40, foraggravated assault with a deadly weapon, intoxication assault andfailure to stop and render aid. A blood draw found Massey's bloodalcohol content five times more than the legal limit, police said.Witnesses told police the woman was walking in a parking lot whenMassey hit her with his car. Those witnesses, including an off-dutyHouston police officer, followed Massey and detained him untilpolice arrived.
Child threatened with ax, police say
A 62-year-old woman has been arrested after police said shethreatened a 10-year-old child with an ax. Brenda Snapp Parks wasarrested just after noon on Friday after a neighbor called policesaying she was holding an axe in the face of the child. When policearrived they said Parks was standing in the middle of the street at9905 Plover Drive holding sharp gardening tools. A witness toldpolice Parks was doing yard work when the child walked by walkinghis dog and Parks charged the child for no apparent reason.
Brawl at store after suspected pick-pocket attempt
Austin police were called to Shop 24 at 201 East Sixth St. atabout 10:30 p.m. Friday for several people fist-fighting. Policesaid store video revealed a family of four walked into the shopwhen Tyrence Griggs, 31, intentionally bumped into a 60-year-oldman and tried to take the man's wallet. The man's daughter askedGriggs what he was doing, and Griggs became enraged, according topolice. Police said the attempted theft victim then hit Griggs indefense of his wife and daughter, and Griggs started brutallybeating the 60-year-old man and wife. Griggs was also charged withharassment of a public servant.
Police said three people were robbed at gunpoint in their frontyard at 5313 Atascosa Dr. Friday evening. Police arrestedDelawrence Rice, 18, not far from the scene and charged him withaggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
Cops: Habitual drunk driver jumps bail
Officials said Billy Ray Handsell, 57, jumped bail prior to atrial for driving while intoxicated in Williamson County. Handsell,a resident of Rockport, was a repeat drunk driver offender,according to the Williamson County Sheriff's Department. He wasfacing between 25- and 99 years for his current DWI charge, whichwas filed last October.
Handsell posted bail and disappeared. Authorities said he didnot appear for his March 31 hearing in court. Instead, his attorneyand family members were present. A warrant has been filed for hisarrest. Prosecutors will present a new case, of bail jumping, to aWilliamson County grand jury. That charge also is punishable for25- to 99 years in prison.

Burnet cops and Crime Stoppers are looking for assistance incracking the case of two car burglaries on Yellow Ribbon Trail inBurnet. According ot police, the crimes happened between theovernight hours of Saturday, March 27. The suspects took a GarminNuvi GPS, a black Stream Light Stinger flashlight, numerous CDs anda Samsung Flight cell phone.
