AUSTIN (KXAN) - Michael Anderson Jarvis, 25,is being charged with assault of apublic servant, a third-degree felony. He is in town with his bandIglu and Hartley and are playing SXSW shows.
On Thursday at approximately 2:48 a.m., an Austin PoliceDepartment officer responded to the Hilton Hotel at 400 E Fifth St.to assist with a disturbance.
Jarvis and his band mate Samuel Martin were completely naked andrunning around the hotel with Jarvis occasionally sitting to playthe hotel piano. Hotel security asked him to put his clothes backon as he stood on the piano bench, which he refused.
Jarvis then rushed the security guard while he was talking toMartin and punched him three times in the face. Jarvis claimed thathe did this because the security guard was trying to fight Martin.He added that he was aware that the security guard's uniform didnot appear to be for APD and that it was OK to fight a guard thatis not a police officer.
APD was called to assist in the disturbance. The officer arrivedto find the security guard holding down both Jarvis and Martin onthe floor. They were immediately handcuffed and Jarvis wasarrested. Police were able to see the redness on the face of thesecurity officer, where he was punched. Jarvis told police that heand Martin are in a band and are in town for SXSW. He added thatthey had been drinking and decided that it would be funny to takeoff their clothes and run around.
