ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - Superintendent Jesus Chavez will provide the Round Rock ISDboard of trustees with an update on his decision to temporarilysuspend the placement of class rank on student transcripts nextyear.

According to state law, RRISD must continue to rank allstudents for college acceptance and accounting purposes. However,neither state law nor RRISD policy requires the district to list astudent’s class rank on his or her transcript, which has beena stumbling block for many students competing for scholarships andcollege admissions in competitive high schools.
The committee is expected to provide a recommendation to thesuperintendent within the next several months. Chávez said ifpolicy changes are needed, the committee plans to present arecommendation to the board of trustees no later than November.
The district will continue to rank students in accordancewith state law, and students and their parents will still be ableto request their student's class rank. Additional informationoutlining interim procedures for requesting a student's class rankwill be provided to parents and students in the upcoming weeks.
The information presented to the Trustees will be availableon the district'swebsite after the meeting.
