SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) - A man arrested on an aggravated robbery charge is now facing murder allegations, according to a report released Thursday.
Jamie Beltran Granados, 22, was charged with robbery just four days after Hays County sheriffs found an unconscious woman lying next to a dumpster near the 5300 block of Yarrington Road on April 21, the report says.
After being discovered, Mary Katherine Mayfield, 32, was taken to the University Medical Center at Brackenridge where she remained in critical condition.
According to a new report, Mayfield died May 23 from the head injuries she received during the incident, which prompted the murder charge against Granados on Wednesday.
Granados, who was arrested in Austin, remains in the Hays County Jail. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has notified Hays County that it intends to take custody of Granados once local authorities are through with him.
