ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) - Round Rock police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left two people dead.
Police said they responded to a disturbance around 5:20 p.m. Sunday. A man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend in a frontyard in the 1900 block of Nicole Circle.
According to Round Rock police, the man then pointed his gun at officers and refused to stand down. Two police officers then shot and killed the suspect.
Investigators say neighbors called police after witnessing the ordeal unfold on Sunday evening. Round Rock police say the woman who was shot was only 23 years old, and her ex-boyfriend did not live with her at the time.
Investigators have not released the name of the woman or the man, and they're also working to figure out why he showed up to the home on Sunday.
Round Rock Police Chief Tim Ryle says there were several kids home during the shooting. Once the suspect arrived, the victim rushed the children inside where they were found unharmed.
Crime scene tape still blocked entry to the cul-de-sac late Sunday night. Round Rock police say they are now investigating both the officer-involved shooting and the deadly shooting that happened.
