ANCHORAGE, Alaska (NBC) - An orphaned polar bear cub from Alaska is getting a new home – at least for a little while.
Kali is a 3- to 4-month-old cub that was orphaned after its mother was killed earlier this month by a hunter on Alaska's Northwest coast.
Kali now weighs a whopping 23 pounds and is doing well.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officials expect to take the polar bear cub to the Buffalo Zoo in New York sometime this spring to join the zoo's own cub, Luna.
