Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, June 10, 2013.
The eastern half of the nation will begin the work-week with unsettled weather activity on Monday as a storm system entering the Midwest moves toward the Great Lakes. The main low associated with this system will draw ample moisture from the Gulf of Mexico northward into the East as it move eastward across the Ohio Valley and northeastward toward the Lower Great Lakes.
Expect showers and thunderstorms will ramp up from the Central Gulf Coast States into the Great Lakes and Northeast as an associated warm from extends from the low through the Mid-Atlantic and an associated cold front advances toward the East Coast. There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorm development ahead of the cold front in parts of southern Kentucky and middle to eastern Tennessee. The primary threats with these storms will be hail and damaging wind gusts.
Out West, an upper low will continue moving northeastward across California, triggering chances of showers and thunderstorm in central California through the inland areas of northern California. Dry thunderstorms and strong outflow winds will also be possible in the Great Basin and Desert Southwest, creating critical fire weather conditions for southern and eastern Nevada, western Utah, and northern Arizona. Red Flag Warnings are issued for these areas in anticipation of fire weather conditions.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday have ranged from a morning low of 32 degrees at West Yellowstone, Mont. to a high of 104 degrees at Henderson, Nev.
