LAGO VISTA, Texas (KXAN) - Emergency crews found the body of a 19-year-old man after responding to a call of a possible drowning in Lago Vista, Texas.
Travis County Emergency Management officials said the call came in around 3:40 p.m. of the missing 19-year-old near 1308 Emerald Drive in Lago Vista.
The victim was found just before 5 p.m. nearby in 19 feet of water.
Travis County Sheriff's spokesman Roger Wade said it happened while the man was swimming near a dock with friends. The young man told his friends he wasn't a good swimmer and that they needed to keep an eye on him.
Witnesses told investigators their friend dove into the water and at one point was under "distress." The man went under the water and had not been seen for at least 25 minutes when friends called emergency responders.
STARFlight, the Travis County Sheriff's Office and Austin-Travis County EMS helped search for the missing man.
Police questioned the victim's friends, though charges are not likely in the incident. Police said they believe the man and his friends all live in the area.
Meanwhile, an autopsy will be performed Tuesday to determine a cause of death. Police said they will not release the victim's name until after an autopsy is performed and next of kin has been notified.
