AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A motorcyclist who died in a crash Tuesday with two other vehicles failed to yield, according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash happened around 4:13 p.m. on State Highway 71 just east of SH 130 in southeast Travis County. Officials say the motorcyclist, 64-year-old Brian Jeffrey Hastings of San Antonio, was originally parked on the eastbound shoulder when he pulled into the main lane where he collided with a driver in a Volkswagen Golf.
The motorcyclist lost control and traveled across several lanes of traffic and in front of an 18-wheeler. DPS says the driver in the semi locked his brakes but was unable to stop before hitting the motorcyclist.
