KYLE, Texas (KXAN) - A former trainer at the Kyle Volunteer Fire Department faces new charges in an investigation into missing money.
Richard Kolls is now facing a felony charge of abuse of official capacity, an upgrade from an earlier charge. Kolls also faces a felony theft charge.
Authorities tell KXAN at least $3,800 disappeared under Kolls' watch last year . Investigators say at least one check from someone who took a class had been doctored after it was given to Kolls.
Clay Huckaby, Interim Chief with the Kyle Volunteer Fire Department, also told police he had become aware of an agreement between Kolls and Austin ISD to provide coordination for an emergency medical training course conducted at the LBJ Fire Academy.
The fire department let Kolls go during a department reorganization eliminating his position.
