AUSTIN (KXAN) - Two teenage girls are under arrest as Austin police believe they were responsible for more than 20 home burglaries.
Police said Cristal Gomez, 17, and Kayla Wright, 19, confessed and told them where they might find some of the stolen property.
Blake West and his two daughters must have missed the thieves by minutes when they came home one August morning.
West told his daughters, "When you come inside the house, it's going to be a little torn up, you may find some things of yours are going to be missing."
Blake, Michele Porter and their daughters lost their computer, digital camera, appliances, cash, jewelry and the girls' coin jars and toys.
Their computer was recovered but most of their family pictures were erased. Instead there were photos taken by the suspects of themselves with the stolen goods.
"That's them right here at 7:59 p.m. in the car, with our microwave in between them," said Porter.
There were other incriminating pictures.
"At 8:54, they're already at their house going through our stuff," explained Porter. "We didn't realize they had taken some of these things. The video is ours, the computer, this is my jewelry. They're just going through our stuff."
On Oct. 24, authorities arrested Gomez and Wright on a separate burglary, that's when they confessed to being involved in more than a dozen burglaries.
