AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin Police say a man was taken into custody Monday night after he told officers he would burn down his apartment complex in north Austin. Police say this case is not related to the recent string of bombings in Austin.
According to APD Senior Police Officer Justin Berry, officers were called out to the Remington House Apartment complex on Barwood Park just before 10 p.m. for a domestic disturbance. SPO Berry says the man refused to come out. APD's SWAT and crews with Austin Fire Department were called after the man allegedly threatened to burn down the complex. Nearby units were evacuated as a precaution.
Police say the man did comply with officers' verbal commands and was taken into custody safely.
