AUSTIN (KXAN) - A head-on collision on Ranch Road 620 near Mansfield Dam sent two people to the hospital with critical injuries on Thursday.
The crash involving seven people happened about 2:30 p.m in the 4300 block of the heavily-traveled road.
Two people were taken by STARFlight to University Medical Center Brackenridge in critical condition. The five others refused treatment.
This was the second major accident along the road Thursday.
An off-duty Lakeway police sergeant died Thursday morning after crashing his vehicle at Ranch Road 620 at Boulder Lane, about six miles from the afternoon crash.
Authorities said Sgt. Chris Doles was a retired Waco Police Department officer who began as officer with the Lakeway Police Department on July 25, 2011. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant September 2012.
