The Travis County Tax Assessor Collector announced an auction to collect back taxes from the store. The office said the company owes approximately $17,000 in delinquent property taxes.
Some of the items up for auction include a signed Lance Armstrong jersey and running shoes used by President George W. Bush after September 11.
"He sent them back with a nice note and this is now framed in a shadow box that says these were the shoes he wore during a dramatic and eventful year," said Paul Carrozza, RunTex owner. "It goes on to say how it helped him cope with the stress of being President in the 9-11 era."
The auction will take place at the now-closed "RunTex" location at Riverside and South First Street on Tuesday, May 7.
The chain abruptly closed its doors in early April . A notice on the store window said the company owed more than $72,000 in unpaid rent.
At the time, Carrozza said increased competition from other running outfitters was hurting the business.
Despite this, Carrozza has indicated that the company would endure, while also expressing interest in focusing on charitable work through the RunTex foundation.
