Round Rock robbery suspect punches employee, customer in the face

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) -- A convenience store employee was greeted by a punch in the face as a robbery suspect entered a Wag A Bag store on 1200 South Interstate 35, in Round Rock on Nov. 25.

The suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Breylin Douglas Deshaun Mitchell. According to police, Mitchell entered the store around 3:21 p.m. He punched a female employee who was standing by the door, injuring her nose and forehead.

Mitchell then walked over the counter and said he needed to buy some merchandise. As soon as the other employee opened the cash register, Mitchell reached over the counter and grabbed all of the cash from the register, according to the affidavit.

A customer followed Mitchell out of the store in an attempt to stop him. Police say Mitchell turned around and punched the customer in the left eye before driving away.

The vehicle was driven by Mitchell's family member, states the affidavit. While police were looking for Mitchell, a family member called police to say he knew someone who was involved a robbery. It is unclear if the person who drove the vehicle was the same person who called 911.

Mitchell was found by police in a parking lot. He admitted to stealing cash from the register. He is facing charges of robbery causing bodily injuries.

Mitchell is a former TCU football player; he was on the team in 2015 is not a current player.
