AUSTIN (KXAN) - After releasing a sketch to the public, police have identified a man they believe is a serial sex assault suspect connected to eight sexual assaults dating back to August 2012.
Police are looking to arrest Edgar Casas, 25, who is allegedly connected to the most recent attack on Monday in the 8000 block of Gessner Drive . Four of the attacks have happened in April alone.
Casas is charged with sexual assault, a second-degree felony. Bond is set at $175,000.
Police ask anyone who knows where he is to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
Detectives said that in most instances, the suspect approached women in parking lots or laundry rooms of apartment complexes -- primarily in North Austin. Four of the cases were reported in areas near Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 183.
The other four happened near Lamar Boulevard between Rundberg and Braker lanes.
In each of those cases, the women screamed loudly and were able to scare him off, but police are concerned that if they don't catch him soon these crimes could escalate.
On several occasions, the women have had children with them.
