PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) - As a new school year is about to start, the Pflugerville Independent School District is making room for their newest addition: a superintendent.
On Thursday night, the school board unanimously named Dr. Alex Torrez as the lone finalist for the superintendent position.
Dr. Torrez currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education in Clear Creek ISD, a district located southeast of Houston.
“We were brought some very strong candidates and we believe Dr. Torrez is a perfect fit for Pflugerville ISD. He’s a man of integrity and a collaborative leader,” said Board President Elva Gladney. “We’re very excited about him joining the Pflugerville family.”
At PISD, Torrez will oversee more than 23,000 students on 29 campuses.
“I am honored and excited to join Pflugerville ISD but, most of all, humbled to become a part of this outstanding school district,” Dr. Torrez said
According to state law, the district must fulfill a 21-day waiting period before offering a contract.
Back in March, Charles Dupre left PISD to become superintendent of Fort Bend ISD.
