AUSTIN (KXAN) - In 2011, overall attendance at movie theaters was the worst it has been in 16 years, according to box office tracker Hollywood.com .
But, the Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas said they saw an increase at their theaters.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas announced on Thursday that their domestic box office sales increased 2.6 percent in 2011 compared to 2010.
Nationally, domestic box office sales dropped 3.4 percent.
According to hollywood.com, the North American box office was up $10 billion in annual revenues for the third straight year and 2012 could bring back some excitement to ticket sales.
