AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon is an annual tradition on Labor Day weekend.
The telethon, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, is now the MDA Show of Strength. It's a new name, but the purpose has not changed: helping people with a variety of muscle diseases.
David Wilson is a Central Texan who lives with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Wilson, from Round Rock, deals with a tough disease that has taken away his muscle balance and coordination.
"I just knew it was Lou Gehrig's disease, and he was a baseball player,and he died from it," Wilson said. "That's what scared me. scared me quite a bit."
