Austin (KXAN) - A shooting outside of Mustang Ridge in Caldwell County sent police on a manhunt for hours Saturday.
Mustang Ridge police said several shots were fired on Calder Road and State Highway 21 on Saturday afternoon. They searched for a suspect for at least 4 1/2 hours before calling the search off around 9.30 p.m.
Police responded to a structure fire on Calder Road around 7 p.m. While there, officers said they heard five- to six gunshots fired.
Neighbors in the area described the man who fired the shots as a bald Hispanic man between 5 feet 7 inches- and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He wore blue jeans and a white T-shirt.
Police said they believe the suspect may have started the fire and ran off heading west toward Avis Road.
The Austin Police Department's helicopter deployed to look for the suspect, but police did not find him.
Mustang Ridge police said the suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and they will continue their search on Sunday.
